Impressed with the feature/functions? Maybe not. Also partially bacause I've been using it for a long time.
Well, I shall view it from a view point of a total noob.[which i may not be able to to it that well..]
I'm sure i would be impressed with the search functions of Google. Because it provides me with many information. Links to many information can be found.
Well, today, the advanced search function. It was appealing to me. Either i think that i was being retarded coz the search results were the same lump amount when i 1st searched. Imagine having to add in the extra search words so as to allow the search to be more effective due to some slang or different wordes used for the links.
I was more or less satisfied because the results were reduced to 30 after 2-3 pages of viewing the results. More or less it was quite effective. But i may have missed out some results and will have to search through the other words or an alternative word to search for more accurate results.
Discussion in forums are quite difficult, from my knowledge. Beacuse I've not started posting on the forum of my research topic yet, so i shall use my knowledge of experience in another foum.
Depending on the size of the community and the passion of the users there. No doubt that the post may become stagnant and may be deleted due to inactivity or spam or repeated same thread subjects. I still find that people are more or less willing to engage in similar kind or threads of interests. Looking through a forum always helps me to find out more about some things.
Sometimes talking to a completely new person is very difficult. But on these forums, it's easy to connect with people of the similar interests. Well, if one is doig a project and using that forum, some users would gladly welcome you into the forum and start sharing. On the other hand, Some will just ignore newbies or researchers. But on the whole, forums are a good place to share information and to discuss about subjects of interests.
Citation and bibliography is important because we have to give credit for the resources which we used for our project. Those resources are done by other researches and they should at least deserve some credit for their works. And also if some people were to read our research project, they could at least determine and check back on our basis of our point and where it came from, wether if it came from a reliable source or person.
I feel that it is a form of respect to the other party who provided/shared the resources with us. Even if it's uploaded on the net for free. It's part of their labour and pride.
PS. Today's lesson is soo dry!! ARRGH!! Well, at least i learnt and managed to understand most of the things put across and do some of the work in class... And we're all still trying to do it!!

post2: indulgence with $500 & Reflection
I feel so full... With food and WORK!! ARRGH!!

Well back to work. What would i get with 500 bucks? Of course some photography acccessories!! Since I'm into photography.
Costing 350 bucks for a 2nd hand at http://www.canon.com.sg/p/EN/323-DSLR-Cameras/860-Accessories/1393-Speedlite-430EX-II/
Or 559 maximum for a 1st hand at http://www.canon.com.sg/p/EN/323-DSLR-Cameras/860-Accessories/1393-Speedlite-430EX-II/
and guess that'll really burst that budget if i'm getting a brand new one or maybe leave me with some cash to save up after getting the 2nd hand one?? =D
Maybe if I got the 2nd hand one, I still remain with 150 bucks. Most probably I'll get another camera system, a minimo, a miniature lomograph on keychain.

Costing about like 128.
Can be found at http://www.pocket-arts.com/
My purposes of visiting the sites above is to find out the prices which the product can be purchased at. To check the market price.
I've learnt a lot today.. Too much for one to actually compress into my head. And to think that it is the 1st day of EIR. And there's only like 7 days for the CDS. 6 days left....
Did this intro about myself to friends. Ms Faridah told us to use food to describe ourselves.
I used chicken rice! NOM NOM NOM...
Coz it's tasty and tender. Like me, good and soft? HAHA. Er, well, that was what went into my head for the 1st time. HAHA
I learnt that the internet has a better way of learning from professional blogs. But i cannot seem to find the blogs for research topics. Hmm... Forums and websites are easier to find. I should try it again soon!! Hopefully my next time, which will be 2mr I suppose, I can find them.
Introduction. The 1st post of EIR!!!
Me?? I'm Matthew Tan. DUH.
Nicknames are plenty. And I'm not letting you know what it is.
I'm pursuing a Diploma in Information Technology. DPA DPA DPA!! =D
So, what about the introduction? Of course you guys sure want to know what i love to do when i'm free right?? Don't you... Well, we as IIT students, sure are always on the computer most of the time, like in lesson/when ever we can get our hands on the computer. So long there's an internet connection(most preferabily??). BUT, I also love to do other things other than sitting in front of the computer. Such as photography and building plastic models. Althought these things takes up a lot of my time and expeneses or some other constraints. I'll try to manage them as and when i can do it. =D
Songs are more or less a norm for me... Not much of a preference. So long as the music is good and pleasing to my ears. If they find the music good, then it's good. =D
TV programmes? Ever since we got our hands on our computers, TVs are long covered in dust. I only watch TV only when i've got nothing to do/want to catch a progamme/when the computer gets too boring for the day.
Places to hang out and relax one corner? A room without corners? Joking.
I like to go the places where my friends are. Just the gathering and fun which we can all enjoy. No prefrence of and kind.
Sleeping at home on the bed is also a form of chilling. HAHA
Favourite internet sites are more of Facebook!! What else??!!
In class when there's nothing left to play, FB comes on!!
And also my interest of photography, I go to a forum where there are snappers like me!!
Expertise in a skill. HAHA.
Well, i should say photography?? But I've only been into it for like months only.
It's actually quite easy to pick up. Although you see those professional photographers with their huge and complicated DSLRs/SLRs.
These systems need practices and time to get used to them. 1st timers can actually try out with just a simple compact Point and Shoot camera with some manual functions.
Well, my forum which i go to is http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/.
Enjoy.
